Keyword Clustering: Turning a List Into a Plan

How to group keywords by intent and SERP overlap so you stop writing four pages that compete with each other.

The problem with keyword lists

A flat list of 800 keywords tells you nothing about how many pages to write. Clustering does.

Cluster by SERP overlap

If two keywords return largely the same top ten results, one page can serve both. If they don't, you need two pages.

Label intent honestly

Informational, commercial, transactional, navigational. Mismatched intent is the most common reason good content never ranks.

Build the topic map

One pillar per cluster, supporting pages beneath, internal links pointing up. Publish the supporting pages before or alongside the pillar.

Prioritise

Score by search volume, difficulty relative to your authority, and business value. Business value should outrank volume every time.
